LOS ANGELES — Pop Star Says She Feared for Her Safety After Alleged Stalker Repeatedly Appeared at Her Home

Singer and Grammy-winning artist Sabrina Carpenter has been granted a temporary restraining order against a man she alleges repeatedly stalked her and attempted to enter her Los Angeles residence, according to court filings obtained by multiple news outlets.

The alleged stalker, identified in court documents as 31-year-old William Applegate, is accused of trespassing on Carpenter's property, attempting to open her front door, and returning to the area multiple times even after being arrested by police. Security footage reportedly captured the man approaching Carpenter's home and trying to gain entry before being confronted by security personnel.

According to legal filings, Carpenter stated that she does not know Applegate and has never had any relationship with him. She described his behavior as increasingly alarming and said she feared for her personal safety as the incidents escalated over several weeks.

Investigators later determined the suspect had allegedly been monitoring the area around Carpenter's residence since April, gradually moving closer to the property before the May 23 incident that resulted in his arrest for trespassing. Despite the arrest, authorities say he returned to the neighborhood on at least two separate occasions.

Court documents indicate that the temporary restraining order requires Applegate to remain at least 100 yards away from Carpenter, her residence, vehicle, workplace, and certain family members. A court hearing is scheduled later this month to determine whether the order will be extended.

Law enforcement officials involved in the case reportedly characterized the suspect's behavior as demonstrating signs of an escalating fixation, raising concerns about Carpenter's ongoing safety.
